95 Civic CX Tach Installation Help
Yeah i just bought a tach for my car (95 Civic HB CX) because, well it never came with one :\. Its an AutoMeter Sport-Comp Tach w/ Shift Light. I tried to find the manual to the tach and went to AutoMeter's offical site and found some directions but it was not the 100% exact model. Then because my cer never came with a tach in the first place i cant just splice into the current tach
. So now i have wires that are going to have to go in all sorts of places and i dont know where most of those places are. For instance it says to connect the green wire to my "Electronic ignition" and gives a picture of a box that says "Tach Terminal" and indicates it being past the firewall. For the second diagram it says connect the red wire to a "12V Ignition Switch" with a picture of my ignition & key.
So what i need to know is 1)Where is the wire i am susposed to splice in the "Electronic Ignition module"? 2)Where is the wire i am susposed to splice in my ignition column?
Thanks in advance for help

If i remember right you will have some wires for the lights that you will wire into your headlights or a switch. Then you will have a black (ground) a red( power to a key on) and the green goes to the tach wire that is already wired into your car. The wire is a light blue wire on the drivers side shocktower harness. It may have a white stripe but i forgot. Splice into that for the tach wire. Sorry if i'm confusing, but it's really easy.
Good luck

Well I just checked my Shock Tower Harness and there is 3 Diffrent Types of Blue wires.
1)Solid Blue
2)Blue with a white stripe
3)Blue with a yellow stripe
So should i splice with the solid blue?

Well i Temp Ghetto rigged it by connecting the Red+Black to the battery and spliced into the blue/white wire and it didint work to well. It seemed that the tach was responding but it was twitching it wasant smooth and i would rev my car up to est 6k and it would stay at 0-2k. Any suggestions?
okay dude, i just checked out my car and here it is. There is a solid blue wire with like silver ticks on it on the drivers side shock tower. That is the wire you need to splice the green wire to. There is also a white wire with a thin blue strip and that is the wrong wire.
Groud out the black wire to a good surface near your firewall or something.
Get a light tester to check for a wire that has a Key On power. Like turn your key to on and then start testing wires to find a wire to splice into for your power.
Or you could test a spot in your fuse panel under your dash to find a key on and then get a male connector and plug it into the open fuse spot.
If you don't have the right tach wire it will cause it to be innaccurate and read weird. Make sure you tap into the solid blue wire that is in the harness the closest to your fender on the srivers side. Let me know if i can help you more.
