Default Leaking Proportioning Valve

My 93 si hb has had a very slight leak at the proportioning for the last 5 years. Since it's a 4 wheel disk car, it should have the 4040 valve. I believe the leak is in the area between the two halves. It's a small leak....I maybe have to top off the M/C about once every three months or so. But the lowar part of the valve always look wet.

I've heard some people say the valve isn't rebuildable since it has 'special bolts' holding it together. Has anyone tried to take one of these apart? I'm guessing it's just an O-ring seal between the two halves. Anyone have experience with this?

Everybody I heard trying to take one apart, has problems later with it. Just buy a used one that works from ebay, I bought a 00 si one for like 30 bucks shipped so they aren't that expensive.

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably go that route then.

your valve is a 30/40 not a 40/40 and i have taken mine apart to clean it and then put it back together with no problems. you have to really make it tight with a 30 torx screw.

just replace it..

You can take it apart no prob, there might just be dirt in there.

Have you tried just tightening the 2 torx bolts up, they may have just worked themselves loose over time
