Default best way to install a BOV flange on IC piping?

I just got my 2.5 in. IC piping for my turbo D and i need to install my flange for my Blitz DD BOV. What is the best way to put a hole in the piping without deforming/damaging the pipe. also if anyone can post pics of their BOV location on an EK that would help me out as well. thanks

Dont mean to jack, but is it really neccessary to install the flange? Could I essentially just jb weld it to the charge pipe?

Best way? I don't know, but what I did was first put the flange on and trace around it with a marker. Drill a pilot hole with a unibit, and then use a sawzaw to cut it out. I MIG'd it on from there.

After I traced it I took it to a local muffler shop and said "Hey, put a hole here and put this flange in it's place." they took a torch and torched a hole then just welded away and $5 later I had a welded on flange

I had the exact same thing done for $10 at a muffler shop.

gotta find a hole in the wall one though...mieneke and places like that wont bother most of the time unless you know someone there personally. The small shops look at it as a quick $10.

Another question. Does the location of the bov in relation to the throttle body make a difference, and is there anything in the bay that it shouldn be opening at? I'm lookin at mounting it on a pipe about 6-7 inches from the throttle body, kinda right by the fuel filter and that concerns me.

I can't really air really getting in the way of anything in your bay, but whatever. Technically speaking you want the BOv as far away from the TB as possible so the turbo sees the smallest amount of surge. That's is why some put it on there intercooler. 6-7 Inches away is fine though and is what most people do anyway

Would it be ok to place the bov before the intercooler? So like between the ic and the turbo?

I'm just wondering, would it cause any problems with boost or not work efficiently?

I ghetto-rigged my first BOV setup with JB weld and the damn (HKS SSQV) flange kept coming off. I guess it only works well at low boost or sumthing..LOL JB WELD DOES NOT work all wonders!!!!

it'll surge more the closer it is to the throttle body. Actually this morning I was just readng "Import magazine" or some **** like that and I saw the BOV right before the IC and this was on a really really nice Skyline. "Maximum boost" the book, says that the closer to the turbo, the better

i cut the hole a little bit too small with a plasma cutter, then i welded on the flange, then i grinded the inside flush to the flange. it worked very well

good luck.
