Default Are wheel spacers potentially dangerous?

I am thinking of getting spacers so I can run 215 tires with no rubbing, but I cant help but wonder if spacers wont put additional stress on the studs causing them to break off in a bump o somehing.

Get longer studs when you get spacers then.

that, and ensure you buy some 'decent' spacers.

My 'cheapest ones i could find' self destructed after 3ish sessions at VIR last year...and made for some nasty shaking and scary times.

Of course heat could have been an issue...my rotors (all 4) were scored and purple...all the way through the hats from slightly hard braking. LOL

I'd find some that are hubcentric for your application. This will ensure that the spacer is being supported by the hub rather than the studs.

I had spacers on my 350Z with extended lugs and never had any problems. It saw a couple track days and there was no noticable wear on the spacers or lugs. Just remember that the further you go out on the lugs, the more leverage the wheel has to exert force on them. However, to run 215's, I doubt you'd need a very big spacer for any car.

Uh .. I don't know. You haven't said what type of car you have, which rims and what size/offset, ride height, etc. Those are all factors. Are you sure you even need them? I have a set of 225 RA-1s that I run on my CRX occasionally and the only rubbing I experience with them is on the fender, so a spacer wouldn't help there. It will only help if you're rubbing on the inside or if you have brake caliper clearance issues.
