i don't think that matters. in an instance such as this, there's nothing wrong with being extra safe if you prefer. it's not as if checking your timing costs any money (except if you don't have a timing light...but if you're gonna check it at any time down the road, this will be an expense anyway), and it only takes a second...so why not?

i could see how you can change your oil "too soon" ...just because unnecessarily changing oil prematurely will just be a waste of good oil and filter, hence costing you money you wouldn't need to spend otherwise.

but as far as checking timing, knock yourself out. do it everyday if you want?

I still think thats excessive but who cares, Does it hurt the car to check it that often? No. Can it help you in the long run? Yes. So what the heck, I might start checking mine more often.

Every oil change i do a complete tune up cept for fuel filter.

Put the motor to TDC on the crank then check the cam gears to be sure its on.

Pull out the timing light and check to be sure its all good. run through the engine and check all other components. check for vaccum leaks fuel leaks just spend a good 2-3 hours to make sure she's runnin ok..

Some say its a bit excessive. But i just do it to be safe cause im reving a stock block b16 to 9500 on occasion 9000 most of the time.
