How can I check timing in my car?
I need to check timing in my car. So I bought timing gun but I don't know how to use it. Can some one help me out?
I want to check timing in 2000 civic EX.

Does your timing gun have an adjustable dial? Once you know what tool you have, it's plain forward. Use this page for a reference.

Those marks are on your crank pulley, not on your cam gears.
EDIT: follow the timing belt down to the main pulley below, looks just like the picture. It will have all those notches on it... may have to look around to the other side.

Is Crank pulley is right next to timing belt? If someone can post pictures I would really appreciate.

Look at your altinator belt, powersteering or AC belts. Follow them to the bottom of the car somewhat where they are all connected to one pully (that is your crank pully).
Now looking directly at the block from there you will see a cover, on the cover will have either an arrow or a long line going down. That is your marking point. Looking directly down from the top to the line you need to point your gun on the side of the crank pulley, the little groove thats on the block side of the big crank pulley. Then put your gun on it and you will see the lines. HTHs

both... look directly under your drivers side mount like 12-14 inches under it and its the big *** pulley with all th ebelts comming off of it.... go take a friggen look at it its like 6 inches in diameter..not hard to spot

I found crank pulley. Now when I point timing gun at that what am I loooking for? How do I know if my timing is off?
