APEXi Super Ground System makes 9 WHP !!!
What do you guys think of the claims of these ground wire systems ?
Do they really help ? Are they worth the money ?
i recently saw on the APEXi website where TPR magazine had a ground wire system shootout and their system made a whopping 9 HP !!!
Here is the link : http://www.apexi.com/news_article.asp?id=2
Let me hear what you guys think.
Thanks

Very intresting, I'm still a bit skeptical... I'd love to gain 9HP with ground wires, but IMO I don't think its going to happen unless all the stock grounds are screwed up.
I too am skeptical about apexi's claims, i know of people that have similar (kuwano/buddy club etc) systems in their cars and claim great things on the butt dyno along with increased mpg but 9whp is a huge gain for something so simple....and i'd like to see independent dyno graphs before i'd consider buying one

Ding! Clean your stock grounds and you'll have everything the $$$ kits give you.

I would clean them but it's no use, they're mostly frayed...lol...

And un-biased dyno graphs...
How much are these things?

yea i have one on my 91 da. The difference is a better ignition, smoother idleing, and my lights are so much brighter now. You can feel a very little difference and I think thats jsut because the ecu is really stable groundwise. I like it. I got mine off ebay. It was the ebay ones that are $12 buy it now and like another $12 for shipping. It doesnt matter if its a APEXi or buddy club a 8guage wire is a 8guage wire. Worth the $$$ and it makes my engine bay look cool
the ground wire system thing. u can actually make it urself
all the wires are arround 8 to 10 gauges
for my car i used a 10 gauge stereo wire with double covering
the other thing is that they have to place it places where the stock ground wire isn't wired instance alternator distributor bulk head things like that and if u look carefully the stock wires aren't connected directly to the negative pole of the battery it is connect to the body. add a new ground wire system means u connect it directly to ur battery and don't connect it using another wire connect it using a earth terminal so it actually gives u the 9 to 10 hp they advertised. and if u want to get more from that add a voltage stabilizer to ur system. razin pivot adds arround 7 to 10 hp depends on the car. yes indee it does give u more hp
trust me.

I would like to see proof that these work, not just "butt dyno" results... A persons mind can tell you there is a huge gain, especially if you spent $$$ on it. No one wants to admitt wasting money on a gimmick. BRING ON THE PROOF.
its not a big gain man. the company swears like ur boosting the car with a ground kit. 9whp my *****. its jus a nice little wire kit. its only like 20 bucks on ebay. you can spend like 130 for the APEXi ones but thats the dumbest thing you can do. Its just like i said smoother idling, brighter lights, better start, and if there is any power gains at all its becasue the ecu is more stable ground wise.
I just put my own ground kit on my EF. Go to your local audio store and get 8 feet of 4ga wire, and 10 connectors. I grounded the following:
Chassis to neg terminal, neg terminal to cylinder head, cylinder head to transmission, transmission to intake manifold, intake manifold to chassis.
Chassis to neg terminal, neg terminal to cylinder head, cylinder head to transmission, transmission to intake manifold, intake manifold to chassis.
what most people without any electical engineering knowledge fail to understand it that dc travels negative to positive and not the other way around. The cars chassis is actually the feed and the positive wire the return. There are many reasons why this is this way but mostly to conserve copper during periods of war is how it started. Years ago some cars were positive ground. It also allows the positive wire to be much smaller as the heat generating current has an unlimited feed wire ( chassis) and the return circuitry needs not be so big(positive). Take a fuse and figure out the blow point then turn the amp down a few notches. Remember where the blow point is and then put the fuse on the negative. It will blow with a lot less overall amp settings. I know were not comparing amplifiers to the grounding system but it is an example for those that always will post that im wrong on this. This is why i believe these systems are effective. On boosted cars they are more effective because you have a higher resistance because of the cylinder pressure and every bit of voltage counts more for ignition events as does current. I have seen bigger gains in magazines for turbo rx7s than anything else. These cars need something like this bad when they are turned up. On na hondas my chart showed about 1.5 hp which is negligable and could be contributed to heat soak or anything else but my feelings is its the wires or the butt dynos feelings anyway.
