Default Trying to figure out if I would want to go the route of a turbo charger.

I currently have an all stock 1995 Honda Civic CX hatchback that I plan on doing an engine swap in the winter. Now I am still torn between the GS-R and the H22. Now, if I wanted to go with a turbo charger, what swap would I want to do?

From a previous post of mine, there was big debate between the GS-R and the H22, but I went and found some prices on complete conversions and the H22 seems a hell of a lot cheaper. Am I missing something?

95 Spec JDM GSR COMPLETE CONVERSION
180 HP - 134ft. lbs Torque
Less then 40k miles
Includes: Engine, hydraulic transmission,
engine mounts, shift-linkage, ECU, and drive axles.
$3,500.00

95 JDM H22 COMPLETE CONVERSION
190 HP - 151ft. lbs Torque
Less then 30k miles
Includes: Engine, hydraulic transmission,
engine mounts, ECU, and drive axles.
$2,500.00

I like B series, the turbo kit will be easier to piece togeather and there are way more parts for a B series, go with the gsr

yeah b-series all the way. h22=bad on boost, thin cylinder walls.
second the prices and time and bullshit that goes along with the h22 swap is terrible, buckle up for a fun ride if you plan on doing that swap+your going to need a wicked suspension for the h22 swap, and the car is going to have a big difference in turning etc. B18 all the way.

compuvision02,

Have you thought about a B16? technically, you have to swap in a motor from the same year or newer. But if you dont care, you could go with a first gen B16 which is only $700 for the longblock, and you can buy a hydro tranny seperate. But remember swapping in a pre-95 B16 into your 95 hatch wont be legal. But who knows? maybe the smog or BAR techs in your state cant tell the difference between a JDM first gen B16 and a 95 and up B16.

If you do go with the first gen B16, then there will be a huge price difference between that and say a 95 B16 or B18C. That money can be put towards building up the motor so it can handle a lot of boost. Maybe you should ask some of the EG people and see if you can get away with swapping in a first gen B16.
