Default High Flow Cats?

Hey guys, I'm shopping. Need to know what brand of high flow catalytic converter you'd recommend and why. I'm rolling a 2000 civic ex with Greddy evoII exhaust and a dc sports 4-1 header and looking for something to compliment the setup. I've checked out the Bomz stainless cat and am looking to get some other opinions.

i have a type x for http://www.shmotorsports.com. it kicks the check engine light but i got an o2 sesnor simulator for that (see o2 sim install thread to buy in my sig below). all totaled was about $130. amplifies the exhaust sound and gives a little bump in power. i love it

i tried a OBD2 Direct fit carsound cat and I didn't really notice any improvement, it does however make the exhaust extra noisy and raspy in my opinion.

Plus I failed inspection with it even though they say it's emissions legal. Eventually swapped it for a Si catalytic and passed with flying colors.

Setup: (98 EX)

DC Sports Header
Magnaflow SS Catback.

If you are goign to go with a High flow cat then you might as well use a friggin test pipe. I've hooked a gas analyzer up to a car with a pipe, and a car with a high flow....not enough of a difference to really talk about. Besides, many of the high flow cats are sold for offroad use only, and even the ones that are legal can still fail you on a visual test. Plus they are WAY more pricey than a pipe.

If you don't want to run a stock cat, suck it up, buy a pipe, and then swap for smog day. If you get pulled over....well thats the price you might have to pay. Me....I just run a cat.

There are some that pass and some that don't I guess. Visual was a breeze but the sniffer was the failing point for me.

I agree you're better off running the stock or a test pipe.

Aren't test pipes like $30 on ebay? I sold a test pipe for $15 shipped on ebay, it came with my muffler as an extension for the sedans... so they aren't that expensive at all.
