knock sensor and ect
i finished my b16 crx swap it starts and im throwing codes 14 and 6. these are knock sensor and engine coolant temperature sensor. i used a hasport jumper harness, and soldered everything. i rechecked everything everything seems to be in place. is there a way to check that the wires a re connected by a voltmeter? or should i just disconnect the wires and resolder? also, with the ect code, does that mean my ecu doesnt know when the engine is overheating or not? i ask cuz i wanted to run it for a while to see if the fan turns on. HELP PLEASE
sorry 14 is intake control what is that caused by?

The ect is on the head near the vtec, make sure you don't got those plugs switched up, up there. A few can be interchanged. Also same thing with the iacv, it can be switched with another plug causing a code.

but now im confused the eacv looks like the thing i hooked one of the 4 vtec wires to? i thought it was the knock sensor?? now im really friggin confused
so maybe the two are switched? i didnt think any plugs were the same.....well find out tomarrow
hondatech is way better then automotive forums!!!

If I said the plugs were the same, all I ment was they could be interchanged and clip into each other and you would never know. Just like the vtec sensor can be cliped into the ect sensor.
IACV a.k.a eacv
IACV a.k.a eacv
where is the knock sensor? i have knock sensor plug on my hasport vtec harness plugged into the back of the throttle body, in pictures that looks like the iacv, so if these are interchangable that could solve the problem of iacv/eavc.... and u said the vtec and ect could interchange, so my guess is all these plugs are interchangable.... sorry for the dumb questions im just frustrated and want to drive my car ive been waiting way too long.... but tomarrow ill see if these are interchangable. THANks
ok i just went out and switched a vtec plug with ect, and cel went away. but i cant find anything that can be switched with the iavc where is the knock sensor

Told ya
, sure you don't have like the intake air temp sensor switched up. I know for a fact another plug back there could be switched up with the iacv.

the knoxk sensor is in the engine block right under the intake manifold, you really cant miss it, it will be above the oil filter

well yes it is hard to see when engine is in the car, and hard to diconnect/connect with one hand....i found the problems. the knock sensor, iacv and theres one more plug on fourth(or third) runner on intake mani, all these can interchange. i switched them around, reset ecu, no cel. then i put wheels on, bolted exhaust up, welded shift linkages, made custom throttle cable bracket and took it for a spin. it waas vtec-licious LOL.
thanks for the help guys!!
