Default Boosting SOHC motor.

I was told the D16Z6 motor is the best motor to boost cause it holds a lot of boost. So should I go with the D16Z6 motor or the other SOHC motors?.

boost whatever motor you currently have in your car. if its a d15b8, get a d15b7 head cuz 16 valves> 8 valves.
if/when it blows, get a z6.

the z6 is a very good motor to boost, just as many other d series are.....you just have to make sure you build and tune it right and then you can safely push 11-15 psi no problem

i would go with a d16z6, but it really isn't the psi that it can handle, it is the whp. the stock internals can handle as high as 200-220whp with very good tuning.

tuning is the key, have fun, turbo sohc are some of the most fun.

sohcs don't hold "lot's of boost". they hold about 10psi on a very good tune. i'd get a z6, especially if you're going turbo. y8s have weak oil pumps, but better intake manis and so forth. just run a search on z6 vs. y8 and you decide which you would want to go with.

Im running a y8 @8-10psi for the last 2 years. Im now switching to uberdata and better set up., and Im still on the stock bottom. Gonna tune it for 12-psi on a big-28 and 440cc. After a summer on nitrous and 2 years of boost, a leakdown yesterday told me I was 2-3% compression was 170 across at altitude, not to bad.
I give it up for proper care of the motor, oil changes often, plug changes often, only used 91-93octaine ever. Proper air/fuel is gold, glad I invested in a wideband.

just build the bottom end. new rods and pistons b/c the z6 rods are very weak from what I hear. the z6 head is the best flowing head for all of the d-series. im gnna boost my stock b7 until it blows, then build a z6 to run 15 psi daily

I didn't even know there was a d15b8... the least amount of valves I've ever seen on any honda 4 cylinder is 12.

The Z6 comes out of the 92-95 Si and EX models and the OBD1 Del Sol SOHC.

The other one is from a DX/LX I believe. The CX up here in Canada had it too, I don't think we ever got the d15b8.

The Cx has the d15B8. The DX/LX have the d15B7.

Maybe the b7 was an option in the CX, because I pulled one out of a CX and my friends left it on the side of some farm road. It was a D15B7.

Exactly. But since I'm going to be pushing 10 to 12 pounds daily 15 to 18 at the track on my y8, I'll be doing this to my oil pump.

Just for safe measures.

Oh yeah, if anyone has a good condition y8 block for sale let me know I'll buy it from you.

I saw a 92 CX in the junkyard yesterday when I went for my OBD 1 clips... D15B7 16 valves.

I would at least replace the piston rods. They are very tiny but they do shoot thru the block very nicely!!!
