jdm d15 all the way. cam is better and they usually come with a lot lower miles. d15 is the japan z6 except built better. sleeves can handle boost better too

****, if you have 2k to spend, then boost that z6 for less than 1k, and you can save the rest for boring it out some, and getting some forged internals. you can make well over 200hp with that set up.

Yes. The D15B is a waste of time and money. When it blows your gonna have a hard time finding replacement parts. They cam is not that much more aggressive then the Z6. The more hp that you get out of a D15B is due to higher compression ratios and a slightly more aggressive cam. Z6 is the way to go .

i've got a D15B myself, and the only thing that really worries me about it is replacing parts that might break. from what i understand though, the head uses most of the same parts as the Z6, and the bottom end uses a lot of the same parts as the VX motor (which is what, the D15B2?). shouldn't be too hard to find replacement parts.

Re: (morphics)
they aren't that much different. and with parts, it's not hard to replace as you may think. the head is similar to z6 and the bottom is similar to the VX motor

The easiest way to get power out of a d series is to turbo. The D15B has higher compression and is going to take a lot more work to build it and turbo. Really the Z6 is way more pocket friendly and does hold more potential then the D15B. If your going to go N/A, then I would suggest D15B over the Z6.

Re: (EK k kay)
The best way to do this is buy a d15b to run for the moment and get a cheap 1.6 block to build. All you really need is to hone the cylinder walls and buy aftermarket rods and pistons. That is if the block is in good condition. The stock sleeves should be able to hold 300whp or more from what Ive seen in dynos. And use the d15b head on it when ready to run.
Well at least this is my plan already have my y7 block on the waiting for build, and Im currently boosting a d15b on a EK.

there is not really anything wrong with a D. theyre affordable and fun with boost! imagine being able to blow your motor and replacing the longblock for only a couple hundred... u can't say the same for an h or b swap.

i will be boosting a d15b this winter and from what i have read and personally been involved with there is no problems with the d15b handling boost. arp headstuds, cometic headgasket and of course good tuning it will hold 10psi just fine. also as said whats better than being able to replace your engine for 400 bucks if it blows with another low milage one.

yeah, thats what i said, go with the z6.
Most people say z6 because its more boost friendly, since it has a smaller cr, theres a smaller margin for error when it comes to tuning.
and since the z6 is SLIGHTY better than the d15, why not get the best, since they both cost about the same?
iuno, but it really doesnt matter, just go boost with either motor, just make sure that you get some forged internals that way it will last for more than a while, and make sure to get a good tune.

Re: (d112crzy)
ive been runnin my d15b for a year now and im loving it i never liked the z6 i friend had one but didnt compare to the d15b just seem like the d15b had more top end power but to each his own
and that hole its a 1.6 doesnt make a difference between the two
