Help with sohc vtec swap
I just swapped in my sohc vtec engine from my wrecked coupe into my sol. Its a semi-built 94 z6 block/ 99 y8 head. I swapped it into my 97 del sol s. I got the obdII-obdI conversion harness from boomslang.com After finishing the swap the car wont start. It just clicks once. The battery is good. I dont here the fuel pump when i turn the key on. And the starter doesnt crank. I used the harness that was on my z6 engine from my wrecked coupe. I noticed that the del sol had one extra plug on the pass side harness that the z6 harness didn't have. I tried starting it up with the original ecu and i get the same thing. Im stumped ???
EDIT:
car starts and runs pretty decent now (only a slight stumble from 1.5kto3k)
Im looking through these threads about wiring the vtec up. I have the vtec harness so the wires are already run for that. On the connector from the engine harness to the inside harness, the grn/yel wire has an empty slot on the other side so i can just add a pin to wire that up. The blk/blu wire from the engine harness matchs up to a wht/red wire. Do i just pull out the wht/red one?? And on pin D6 there is a ylw/blk wire i believe going to it? do i just pull that one out? remember its a obdII car with the boomslang harness and a p28 ecu

u sure its definitely one of those? both are hooked up, they are alittle corroded tho i'll try cleaning them up
am i suppose to have the one connector empty on the car harness, bc the z6 harness didn't have a plug for it?

yes if either one of those isnt grounded good and tight, your car will do wierd things.

i found out that the green plug for vtec was shorting out the ecu fuse. so i left that disconnected and the car doesnt blow the fuse but it wont crank over still. the fuel pump turns on now tho.
i have a code 21 which is the 21 VTEC spool solenoid valve which is unplugged so that makes sense but that being diconnected shouldnt cause the car not to crank. I hooked up another good starter too and still nothing. the car just clicks once
I disconnected the vtec solenoid (gray plug) and the vtec spool solenoid (green plug) and the car starts right up. The engine runs like **** at idle, like its missing, but when i rev it up it seems fine. If i hold it at like 2.5k it jump up and down ~500rpms. Would the vtec not being connected cause this or would it be something else. When it was in my other car it idled prefect...
How do i wire up the vtec to the ecu? I thought if i used the vtec ecu and the vtec wire harness that i didnt need anything else. I guess b/c the soleniod isn't grounded to the ecu its blowing the fuse when i connect it.
