It depends on your application and what not. To me, the best would be a 92-93 gsr YS1, of course. But, out of those 3, it's a toss up. Here's a chart for you to compare the gearing ratios....http://www.ff-squad.com/Bgears.htm HTH

personally, I love the J1/S1. nice and short. It makes up for the b16s lack of torque. i've been in my buddie's EFs with Y1s and i hate it(one of them even have a Y1/lsd). feels like vtec doesnt kick in as hard. Short gearing makes a world of a difference, especially in NA high revvers.
Just get a j1/s1 and get a quaife/kaaz...

J1/S1 ONLY ! Don'r waste your time with the Y1..you'll end up wanting the better final drive in the end

Funny you say that.
The Y1 is the only tranny that came in the CRX.
the S1 J1 Js1 all came in the teg which because it was heavier, got slighttly
higher ratios than the Y1.
I have a Y1 on my B18C5 powered CRX, and I out run my friend's
B18C5 (S1) CRX.
he shifts more often than I do, and he even has to shift into 5th at the quarter mile
while I stay all the way in fourth. Maybe that's why I am .3 sec faster than him everytime

I have the y1 and the s1, the s1 I prefer over the y1 for racing road/autocross, I have not raced the s1 at the drag yet. They both suck on the highway need the ls 5th. My buddy has the ys1 w/lsd, nice tranny but I'll take my s1 w/quaife even over that, cuz 1st is a bit longer and 5th is a bit longer, 2nd, 3rd, 4th the same
