B16A problem idle
ok so i have a b16a swapped into my 1991 civic si. for vacuum i only hosed the fpr to the back of the intake manifold, and the map sensor connected to the throttle body. but when i start the car it warms up around 2 grand and then after it has warmed up for a little bit the idle begins to drop really low almost dying and then it kickes back up and does that for a little then it sits at 1500 or so for a minute then it drops back and forth in the idle and sometimes even dying out on me!! this is really frustrating.. does anyone have ideas on this???
thanks
thanks
pretty much same problem with my b16 crx. is yours throwing any codes. at first mine had tps code, replaced that, and now its throwing cylinder 1position sensor. ---pretty timing is off, if not then buying a new distributor soon
my problem isn't like all the other idle problems that are posted on here.. i have had that problem before in a integra.. this car it just begins to die and then it kicks back up again.. and it does that for a little bit.. and then eventually dies..
I have a similar problem but only when my car is first starting up when cold. I've replaced my TPS, cap and rotor, plus plugs and wires.
Doesn't do it all the time but I sure would like to know what the deal is.
I did a hot water by-pass on the throttle body would it effect the idle?

It could be your fast idle intake valve I had the same problem... Its located under the throttle body and will have @ least one coolant line going to it...maybe two on non obd manifolds.
There should be 3 10mm bolts going to the fitv..take them off and then remove the plate that has the two screws on the front of it. you will see a white flat cap with grooves just take a flat head screw driver and turn it so that it is about one full turn from the bottom of the threads and try it out....you may have to adjust the a tad more or less depending on your idle....
