Many people with civics have that happen to them....hasn't happened to me yet..There is also some stupid *** JDM anti-static bar that you put on your car or some **** that is supposed to stop it from happening....do a search; you will see it....was only like a month ago or so!!!
If you buy that dumb *** JDM static bar, you can go to hell with it!!!

Just make sure you discharge your static build up before you go to fuel your car. Im not kidding. It can set you on fire.
man, tell me about it. my job is to park cars (valet), i get that all day long.......lol

That happened to me too! Its the material they make the seats from. BUT!!!! I have a solution for you (this at least works for 96-00's). On the inside of the door there's that little pocket/handle (on the light grey part that's red on ctr's). Inside the plastic cup is a screw. If you touch that screw before you get out to the seat you will ground yourself and disipate the static into the door. Just make sure you are touching the screw as you get out of the seat. It's been working for me, I haven't been shocked since.
that's static...depends on the weather too and if you walk in carpets, etc etc.
works for me everytime...before going out of your car, touch any door metal portion with the tip of your key. it will discharge the static.
or grip the top of the door after opening it up and don't let it go until your body is completely out of the car.

Try putting a dryer sheet under you seat and if it don't work well at least you will have something that smells good to put over your nose it your passenger has gas.
