Default Clutch Squeak + Possible bad TO bearing? (d16z6)

well i replaced my water pump today and brake pads, now all thats left on my car is the awwwful noise i hear from my tranny, and the not even half as bad noise i hear when pressing on the clutch

start with the tranny:
when the car is idling, not touching the clutch pedal at all, i hear what sounds like metal rubbin on metal kinda.. after reading the posts on bad throw out bearing someone said it best: "sounds like a skateboard" on cement kinda thing...
now when i put my foot on the pedal to disengage the clutch (like to change gears).. the noise goes away.. u can hear a bearing slow down to a stop.. thats when the noise is gone
to get into the specifics, while driving the noise is gone till u hit about 2100-2500rpm... most noticable in first gear...
downshifting has a much louder whine then normal.. and u can hear this 'bearing' pickup speed afer getting into gear.

so, is it my throw out bearing on my clutch? or something inside the tranny itself?

next thing.. the clutch squeal

pretty basic, i shouldnt bother with it proly something stupid but anyways, lets put the HT members to work here
not all the time, but noticable, when u press the clutch pedal in, u can hear a squeak.. i cant really describe the sound any more then that really.. it sounds almost like.. i dono.. heh.. any ideas?

now if it is my throw out bearing... how much are they generally? and how easy are they to replace?

it's either your clutch release bearing or your input shaft bearing...

Just pray it's not your input shaft bearing, because that involves taking apart the tranny to get to it...

I currently have the same problem on my b16 tranny, same symptoms as you...haven't gotten around taking the tranny down and find out which is the bad bearing. Hope this helps...

Tranny problem: It sounds like a bad Input shaft bearing. There is a write-up on here Bauley did about removing the transmission to inspect and replace the input shaft bearing.

Clutch squeak: Could be the point of contact between the end of the clutch line (there is a little ball there), and where it contacts the shift fork. Look on the front of the tranny, you will see the slave cylinder, a little black boot covering the hole. Pull that boot back, and put some grease where the fork and the ball meet.
