Default D15 or D15!?!

i need a lil advise.

i have barely enough money for anything.

Problem: Clutch blew from rear main seal going out. blew out on the interstate.

Engine in Car: D15(not sure what type) its muli injected with a new top end on the car, but old bottom end.

Engine I bought for 50 Today: D15B1, everything is good, came with a 4spd tranny.

but if its only a 4spd type engine, will it be as quick and turn into a 5 spd with my 5spd tranny i have in my car now?

whats the best way to go at this?

I was thinking if i can swap stuff on the engine New Top End on current engine in car and put the New'er Bottom End on the engine i just got with its new clutch together.

as much feedback as i can get will be much apprecheated... do it for the *** in my avatar

Seriously? What year is your car? If the engine is from the same generation as the one in the car, you should just be able to put the B1 on the transmission in your car. What doesn't bolt up? I don't get it.

at the end of the ew's, they renamed their engines with d codes, but they were still ew engines. look at it, does it have a stamped steel valve cover, and say 12 valve? if it is, its an ew engine in disguise. the bad part if that's true, is that ew engine mounts are totally different than 88 and up, and you have to custom make them.

but you say you know its a d15, if its got an aluminum valvecover, looks like custom mounts are already made for you, good luck.

85-87 Si's came with the D15A3 (91hp) MPFI engine. Maybe that's what you got.

First off, the motor and tranny you bought, were out of an 88-91 std most likely. I have one, and that is the exact motor and tranny in my car, same engine code as well. You should change heads, due to the fact that the d15b1 is dpfi.
