problems after uberdata install...
installed the uberdata chip and OBD1 p28 into my '00 Si.
car started up fine and everything, no hesitation, no oil leaks, nothing, fired up first time and idled fine. i figured i'd let it run for 20 mins or so to let the engine and software get "acquainted." also, engine hadnt been ran in over a month since she was down for the overhaul (new headgasket, head studs, resistor box, injectors etc etc)
well she fired up and was fine for 10 mins. after ten minutes of idleing i brought her up to 2000 RPMs. after i let off the gas the car did not drop back down to its normal idle range (900-1100 RPMs). she fluttered back and forth between 1300-1700 bouncing back and forth like a record. not sure if this is because i have a generic base map in the car until it gets tuned next weekend or if its something else? fuel pressure was steady at 45psi on my DSM blue tops.
anyone have any ideas? looked for vac leaks....couldnt find any.
secondly, im getting smoke from the front of the engine....cant locate it. its not oil smelling and im not losing oil at all, none on the ground, none missing from my dip stick. do you think its a gasket issue? any ideas on this one?
Edit I copper sprayed my headgasket...this is the first start up since the install...could the copper be melting off...thus the smoke im seeing?
all help is greatly appreciated.

after talking with a friend...a trusted tuner, he says that the larger injectors could be the culprit, they tend to do that every now and then, however a blip of the throttle seems to stablize them. true?
Its not uncommon at all for an engine bay to produce smoke after you start it up for the first time.... Oil, Oil from your hands, spilled coolant, PB Blaster all that junk is burning off. Don't let that scare you unless it happens after you've taken it for a ride.
good point....didnt think about all the **** thats on the engine after an engine install.
about the fuel pressure....running the walbro 255hp and DSM 450s. other than that the fuel set up is stock, stock FPR, stock Rail etc.
is that fuel pressure too high for a static #?

uber data is more for the DIY people.
if you don't read you will not learn. seems like you have not read too much on the Uberdata web site...
ahhh, well what version of Uberdata are you running?
and if you are 1.7 there is an IACV slider on the bottom of the MISC tab.
slide it to 50 and see if that helps.
that worked for me.
if not then u should put on an obd1 IACV on the manifold.

im learning as i go...cut me some slack. Idle worked it self out....seems as though the un-connected vac line off my BOV was causing the irratic idle.
the car idles much higher at cold then it used to. idles cold at about 1900 till it comes to temp then drops to the normal 900 RPMs.
for those reading up, the smoking has stopped, must have been the coolant/oil i had on the block from the install!'
thanks to all those that are pitching in!

as far as i know! goes for tune in two weekends...so till then it prolly wont be driven due to the un-tuned base maps
you can drive it.
just make a base map, honda stock maps are on the rich side.
hook up your wide band and start tuning
tune it yourself you will save tons of cash and if u slap on some new parts you don't have to wait for a tune session like now.
if u don't have a wide band use the cash you would have spent on a tune and buy one.
its well worth it.
besides if a tuner blows the motor they do nothing for you. if u blow the motor u will have learned something in the process, and the cash u saved will be enough for a rebuild
good luck
