Default Boost Guage for Vtec?

I was wondering if it were possible to get a boost guage to register after my car hits Vtec?
Next year I plan to turbo, but right now I wanted to get all of my guages in place.
I figured instead of having a dead guage, if I could get it to activate somehow once the car hits vtec that would work well.
I totally expect to get flamed, but would really appreciate any help or advice.

If it helps I have a d16z6 and I was looking to get a ractive blue carbon fiber boost gauge.

No. VTEC does not create positive manifold pressure. On a N/A engine, a boost gauge will read 0 psi at full throttle and read vaccum at any other point.

Damn.
I know that people have rigged up vtec engagement lights.
Would there not be a way to do the same with with a boost gauge?
Trigger it electronically.
As you can see I only know half what I am talking about.
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, a boost gauge won't act any differently if you have VTEC or not. It only measures the vacuum in your intake manifold.

So you want the boost gauge to show boost when you hit vtec? Even if you hook up the gauge, its just gonna show vacuum.

you just asked the same question after someone told you in wont work.

why dont you research how boost gauge works? then you might actually lean some useful information instead of having answers to dumb *** questions spoon fed to you.

this is not a flame, i dont care that you want to do that, but learn something about your car in the process at least.

Boost gauges aren't actuated electronically, therefore it won't work.

Some are, but VTEC does not create any added pressure in the manifold so it won't work like that.

Actually, if the boost gauge is electronic you might be able to wire up some kind of relay, which is activated by the VTEC signal, that sends a signal to the boost gauge when VTEC hits.

I don't know a whole lot about electronics but it might be possible... way more of a pain than it's worth though, and it probably wouldn't even work.

This man is right on point.

I doubt that the creator of this thread would know how to wire up such a thing, if it were to exist

Just wire up the guage anyway.. most gauges read boost and vacuum... so the gauge will still be functional..it will just never go past zero

They do have VTEC lights here in Japan. It is a gauge that lights up when VTEC is engaged. Thats all it does, for the people that need a light to tell them when VTEC has engaged..

I think you're missing his point..he doesn't want to know if he's in vtec.. he wants to show off to his passengers how bangin' his whip is because he has vtec..

ricer.

just wait till you get F/I, then get the boost gauge, son.

nothing wrong with putting gauges on ahead of time...I'm supercharging my tiburon in the fall, but I'm going to install all of my electronics and guages this summer... they'll all be functional, just never reading boost.
