Do you guys think that a Precision SC61 with a .52 a/r exhaust housing is a good investment for a Daily driven B16. The motor is stock for now. i have an 18g on it but i dont like it, looking for more power.

Do you think that this turbo will have a good spool time and make good power?

The 18G hits full boost by 5k, which IMO is way later than it should. I think the stock downpipe doesnt allow it to spool fast enough. Plus the fact that i have 2 1/4 inch ic piping from the turbo to the inter cooler which may play a role in that.

I dont want anything that is going to lag much more than that, it just wouldnt be any fun for daily driving if it didnt make fullboost till 6k+

I know it will make more power though, i'm more worried about the amount of lag i'm going to have, so i'm wondering who has this setup and what type of lag do you have?

 

Ive ran my sc61 with .52 a/r on my stock b16 and on my current 9.1 cr motor and it hits full boost between 5200-5500rpm. I think its perfect for b16's when you want to make more power on less boost and still spool decently quick.

my sc61 has a .63 ar and .60 cold with a 56 trim and i see full boost at 4.7k rpms not bad at all but a nasty top end.

I just switched from an 18G to an SC44 .63 A/R, and it sucks. It kicks *** on the highway, but wouldn't be my choice if I had to do it all over again. An SC61 would be even worse. Now I have to live with it, but if I were to do it all over again, I'd probably get an SC34 or even an SC50.

 

Its really not that bad.....my car ran 12.5@111 on 10 psi in a heavy coupe. SC61 is the way to go, especially if you ever plan on building a motor.

 

I run a SC50 on my street car B16a2, I see 10 psi around 4500. Car is fun as hell on the street, boosts hits hard and pulls through redline. But it can get annoying trying to keep traction..... oh yeah, .63AR

runnin the sc61 on b16 as well. its a little laggy but coming from an 18g as well I like it. I can actually get traction and its absoutly insane top end And If you plan on building your motor or pushing your stock one to the max its great becuase unless you wanna get nuts you'll never have to buy another turbo. 700 bucks well spent for me

unless you have an efficient maniold setup with proper wastegate placement, your turbo will probably have some bad boost creep.

 

Im running an SC50 with a .63 A/R ratio, but 76 trim, and im not seeing full boost till about 5,500rpms. Im gonna go with an SC61 with probably the .63 a/r ratio on the compressor side and then 52 trim exhaust housing, just b/c im gonna try to make 400whp @ 17lbs of boost, and an SC50 cant do that.
