Default Hum, take out or leave climate control system.....

Obviously, I am trying to get all the weight I can out of my porkyass prelude.. For those of you who have fully preped cars, did you take all the climate control system in, just parts of it, or all.. The only reason I would like to keep it is to disapate heat through the heater core if the motor got hot, and maybe defrost (which won't work now that the evaporator is gone..) I would like to rip the whole blower/heatercore, and everything else out.. But I thought I would ask first..

If I really need air because of heat, I guess I can run ducting to the window of the car..
TIA

I am contemplating the same thing.. Are there window fogging issues with out the heater? Any other things to worry about?

I took out all a/c parts, but have actually had to use the heater a couple of times to defrost (and even de-ice once), so I'm glad I left it in.

I'd keep it... the first wet race you do, you'll be happy it's there. There's nothing worse than having your windshield fog over in a wet race!

The emergency engine cooling you mentioned is another good reason.

Better check the rules before you gut stuff you might have to put back. SCCA IT requires defroster and heater. Don't know about ECHC.

i removed my heater core and motor, and i thought i would be able to use rain x anti fog to prevent my windows from being fogged up at night. I was wrong having no heater core is totally unbearable on a car that sees any kind of cold weather. in fact the rain x anti fog made it even worse, when i would wipe the window with a cloth the window would get streaked up. when i get the chance i'm putting the heater core back in!

Well considering ECHC is based on IT rules, I guess I should keep it.. Gotta find duct tape to cover the holes from the evaporator now.. Thanks guys..

Spend the extra few dollars and get the aluminum duct tape that has a backing that peels off for installation. You can actually put it on and leave it for a season without having it get crispy and fall off.
