Are you sure the knock sensor is wired to the correct pin on the ecu?

Here's a thought maybe the sensors working and is sensing a knock in the motor or something banging against the motor or too much vibration.
you can test a knock sensor buy hooking up your dvom to it a hitting the block with a hammer i suggest testing at the ecu to rule out the wiring in between

loosely translates to "i don't think he used an insulated wire-could that be the problem?"

yes...always use insulated wire unless you like electrical problems and fires.

I think the insulated he means is like the O2 sensor where there is a grounding sheath around the normal insulation.

but I could be wrong

are you sayin that your groundin the knock sensor?? The KS is a 1 terminal plug, make sure your pin is on the top side of the plug, and its pinned correct in the plug. Dont externallty ground it, its only 1 wire to the ecu, B19.
