Light Problem Loose Wire? Dim Tail Lights
Okay i have a weird problem. With my headlights off, when i hit my brake, my dash clock dims and my front corner lights turn on, as soon as i let go they return to normal. My brake tail lights are dim too when i brake. With my headlights on, when i brake you can barley notice a difference from the running lights and brake lights. i Have only had this problem since i replaced the tranny. What can cause it. If it is a loose ground or wire, please tell me where to look. I got a ticket already once for the brake lights at night barley being noticeable. Please help! Thanks
I had a somewhat similar issue when I bought my Integra. It ended up being a dual filament bulb in a single filament socket and a single filament bulb in a dual filament socket. That causes a short in the circuit which was popping 10 amp fuses which meant to gauge lights unless I hit the brakes which caused the short and allowed electricity to flow back to the bulbs and then back through the lines and was enough to make my gauge lights work. I stuck a 15 amp fuse in and then when I turned the lights on the gauge lights were fine but all my brake lights were on and my cruise didn't work cause instead of the circuit getting broken due to the short the bigger fuse allowed it which then sent the voltage though everything related to the brake bulbs like the brake switch on the pedal which is used by the cruise control. Bottom line is if you haven't messed with your wiring check all of your brake, parking, and turn signal bulbs.
Yay i found out what it is
I checked all the tail lightbulbs and 2 were 2 filiment light bulbs and 2 were single filiment light bulbs. With the tail lights you need 2 filiments, 1 for running lights and the other for brake lights. AKA You need 2 filiment lightbulbs for the back lights. Once i did this, everything worked properly and non of the dash lights come on when i brake too. Thanks guys

what a coincidence same thing happend to me wonder what idiot would replace the bulbs with different kinds oh well thanks i'll be on the lookout for correct lightbulbs who new they would make such a difference

Glad I could help. I searched all over Honda-Tech for the solution and never found it so I had to find it myself. Hopefully this one will help more people in the future.

I know this is an old thread, but would anyone else have any insight to why I am having this problem. I used a test light and checked the fuse's (all of them just for good measure) and all of them were good. I have not spliced any wires what so ever. All my bulbs are the bulbs that are supposed to be. When I have the lights cut on, all the brake lights are on including the 3rd brake light. when I hit the brakes they barley light up. also when I press the brake, the corners light up. Its a danger, and pissing me off.
Check the duel filement bulbs, make sure none of them have filements that touch each other.

Which trim piece would it be located under? I checked the bulbs and none of the filaments were making contact. The tail light ground is the only thing obvious that I haven't checked.
