The Car: 94 civic hatch

the problem: When the headlights are turned on, the rear tail lights are lit. Once the brake peddal is applied, one of the lights turns off.

I tried replacing the bulb and it still does the same thing.

Now when during the day with the headlights off, the brake lights can be seen, however the same one that is off at night is very dimly lit.

what could be the problem?

Its a short in the wiring somewhere going back to the lights, check the harness over. Was it in an acident something like that?

i need some more info to help you out further tho, Your being pretty vague here. But from what im understanding is your tail lights are on regardless? when you hit the brake one goes out completly?

Clairify this for me would you......

I just had the whole car repainted.

the lights are not alsways on, as for the lights:

when you hit the brakes during the day, the brake lights come on, however one right rear side is more dim.

at night, when you have the headlights on, the tailight is lit as normal, once you hit the brake peddal the right rear light goes off.

check the ground(negative -) that goes to that particular bulb. thats the problem. maybe its dirty or painted. poor grounding causes this to happen.

I checked the bulbs and the wires seem ok.

I should take off some of the panneling to see if any of the wires are damaged.

is it a dual filamint(sp?) bulb?
