Default shitty MPG

hey, help me out, im getting about roughly 40-50 miles per quarter tank, is dat normal?? it just seems unnatural to me, i useto drive around all day in my sis's BMW and my moms van and bearly see a significant drop in the gas guage, but now im killing 10 bucks a day on gas...at first i thot it was air filter and my alignment(bad toe) so i got all those fixed and still nothin, i think i;ve been overdue for a valve adjustment but will that make my MPG that shitty?

you're definitely getting about half of what you should get, a bad egr valve will definitely kill gas mileage, you should check it out

EGR, clogged injectors, oxygen sensors, spark plugs/wires/distro, fuel/air filter...could be a number of things

start with running some injector cleaner, replacing the spark plugs, and checking the EGR ports

here's a good DIY for the EGR http://home.comcast.net/~em-engineering/T2T013.pdf

You may also check your tire pressure as well. I see that leading to bad mileage more often than anything else besides oxygen sensors.

not sure on that one, its usually the ports that clog up...might consider replacing it if you know that's the problem

and tires would only effect it maybe 2-5 MPG

just a quick tip...raise your windows when driving more than 60mph for better gas mileage.

thankls for all the replys, i really appreciate it...i have brand new plugs and air filters, i change my oil every 3K, sumtimes even sooner, and i recently switch to mobil 1 syn...so those r out of da question(and yes, my plugs r gaped correctly)...and i have been needing to change tranny fluid, so thast myte be it..and dunt flame me, but, wuts a EGR valve, wut does it do, and where is it..heh heh ^_^a...and my tire pressure is 38 front and 30 rear(for slytely more oversteer)..can dat give me shitty MPG, i wud think the hgiher PSI front wud give me less rolling resistance...*shrugs*...but i hope to fix this before saturday cuz im making a 180 mile trip to seatle for TBAD and i dunt wunna spend over 40 bucks for gas, considering it cost me over 30 for a full tank already
