Default Breaking in a turbo? Wtf?

I am going to pick my car up tonight from the shop where the turbo was installed. They said the boost is currently set @ 4 psi. I wanted it @ 7 psi. He told me to drive it around for about 1000 miles to break the turbo in and the crank the boost up to 7. Does this **** sound logical? I have never head of it but maybe he's right. Is he?

7psi with the correct amount of fuel.. 7psi is more than enough to break something. If not enough fuel is there.

If all your stuff just got installed it would make sense to drive it gently the first few hundred miles. Watch for leaks, listen for odd noises and be aware of any weird smells. You can raise the boost up to 7 PSI. But once you have driven it around and nothing leaks, smells, or makes noise then gradually boost it. Do a few pulls in low boost like 2-3 PSI, pull over and recheck the car if you like. Then do some 4-5 PSI pulls, check the car. Then if you are feeling brave enough, do one WOT pull and closely watch your boost gauge for spikes or creep and make sure it doesn't go above your set amount of boost.

After the WOT pull check your IC piping couplers, check all the oil lines and turbo for oil leaks. Check your radiator hoses, fuel lines, all vacuum lines etc for leaks.

your shop has been installing too many greddy kits apparently. greddy has some crap printed in their instruction manuals (if you can get one, lol) that there turbos must be broken in for at least 500 miles seeing no boost... dunno why they do it exactly, probably has something to do with a new chra and new bearings

Besides that, the only reason I could think of is that they don't want to be liable for running it as is, which I'm guessing is with stock fuel system. Unless there's some sort of management, I wouldn't go past 2psi, although even that will probably send the ecu into limp mode.

Kits and their installs don't include fuel management unless mentioned otherwise. Same for tuning.

Although Emanage is much better than what they used to include its still trash compared to hondata/uberdata/chrome.

Ntohing is wrong with any of that piggyback stuff so long as the boost is low (power output is low), and maybe the dist is pulled back a bit.

I am hoping in the long run that I did not waste $2400. Yes I know you get what you paid for. I know I have a leak on the exhaust side and I think it's right between the exhaust manifold and the turbo itself. Would this cause me to loose HP? This this is not exactly pulling like crazy. I mean 4psi I should definatly be able to feel as apposed to stock. It seems like my second gear is a hell of alot longer than before. I am going to have to upgrade something else because this is BS.
