B18C Spec R questions *Pics*
my friend has a "95 ITR Spec R" motor. It says "B18C" on the block and 95 on the head. My guess is the motor was made in 95 but for a 96 model JDM ITR. Are motors made b4 the cars? Is this a JDM GSR motor or a real B18C Spec R motor? The computer is a P73 w/ OBD2 plugs. The tranny has an LSD but no stamp, we verfied the LSD by taking out the axles and looking inside where the axles go in.

All(JDM) Type R blocks that I have seen.. have B18C on them and thats it...no 3 after the C.

it was manu. in 95/10
red RECAROES.
tHE jdm Sir/GSR HAVE A DIFFERENT iNTAKE MANIFOLD TO THE R.
THATS ONE WAY OF TELLING.
P73 IS UNIQUE TO THE R.
THE R HAS S80 ON THE TRANNY.
aLSO THE R DOES NOT HAVE A BLEEDER SCREW ON THE FRONT OF THE HEAD.

Would any experts here know how many months ahead of time are JDM engines manufatured for their model year? For example would an engine with a production stamp of 7/1/97 be a 98 spec R?

i thnk it varies as well as they make up as they go along.
EG. my 2dr R was made 95/10 the registration is a 95 vehicle.
my friends R was mnufactured 95/10 as well and its registered as a 96.
mY 4 door ITR was made 96/11 and it is registered as a 96.
another friends 97 4door ITR was manufactured 96/8, yet its a 97;
My engine was made after his.
I think it has to do with the Chassis #. my chassis # is lower than his,
but my Engine # is highr than his own.
