96 Spec B18C + 98 Spec B18C?
I should know this but can someone tell me what differences there are in these motors, visibly and internally, if any? Thanks

Anything else? Are there certain numbers stamped on the motor? Do the JDM motor have LSD stamped on the tranny like the USDM? Any compression differences?

My 96 JDM ITR motor has no VIN since its JDM and LSD is not stamped on the tranny but it has an LSD b/c I verified it by looking into the diff.

Dude if your gonna give info at least five the right info. It WILL have an LSD stamp it will read J4D LSD meaning it has the 4.4 final drive. If you get an ITR tranny with the stamp N3E LSD that means it's a 98 and up and has the 4.785 final drive.

IAS powerwashes their swaps before they send them out. Its very possible the stamp rubbed off. However I did some research and supposedly 96 JDM ITR trannies were not stamped and that the LSD stamp started in 97 on the USDM ITR. I've also heard the ink they use to stamp it is not very good therefore the stamp can rub off rather easily due to engine cleaning.

Yea the J4D is the 96-97 JDM/USDM ITR tranny. There were no ITR's in 1995. Not sure whos telling you they have a 1995 ITR but they dont exist. My head says 95 just above the headers, but that doesnt mean it was in a 1995 ITR. The engine is made in the year prior to the car's production.
