how do u new if your car needs to be tuned
Well I new it was out of tune when I played Stairway to Heaven and it just didn't sound right. But seriously, there's a scheduled maintenance warranty for all vehicles in their manuals. I would start there.. - Darrell
If your talking about getting your car tuned. Pretty much when you change something like your header, cat. , cams, etc.. then its time go to the dyno and get your car tuned. If you want it running at its full potential
for tuning like tune ups?
I like to do a little before my reccomended times being I drive hard.
Dnyo when you mod more or if you want to alter your current tune.

when you mod it, you change the state of either the air in, the air out, or the fuel in.
all of those things affect combustion and power output, the ecu cant possibly compensate for it, since by default ecus want things to remain the same.
oversimplified real life examples:
#1 you buy a big intake manifold and throttle body, now you have too much air. you run lean, which may yeild more horsepower at the expense of engine life.
#2 you think because the turbo cars run big injectors, that those 550cc are perfect for your d15b. now you have way to much fuel, which will lead to a rich condition which can lead to detonation and other real problems.
often youll hear people saying "im running rich and thats ok." what they mean is they know theres a tad bit too much fuel, but that allows them do more milling, porting, manifolds or whatever the case maybe.
so how do you know if your car needs a tune? theres no magical way to tell. but i can tell you this, if you have a bunch of bolt ons and never tuned, there very well could be some hidden power in that setup, like most peoples cars that dont have a dyno to do stuff.

so i just put a y8 manifold and gsr tb on my single vtec motor and also a lighten flywheel and a 4 puck clutch should i get my car tuned and i'm not talking about a tune up for u ******* that ask that and how much would i be to get it done i live in new york can i tune my car myself
you can tune it yourself but from the sounds of things i would not suggest it if your asking when should i get my car tuned. In cali they charge usually 150/hr usally they dont charge for bullshit time only time actually on the machine
