Default How High Do You Rev Your Mild CRVTEC>>DID SEARCH>

Just basiclly gathering some thoughts and inputs and again this is not for a stock block. i did search and found articles mostly on how high you can rev on a stock block with stock walls..

High high do you guys rev your crvtec on stock walls with custom or aftermarket pistons and rods?

How often do you guys do this? i.e. daily basis, racing only?

i know that the question must sound dumb if you are not making power after lets suppose 8k but, keeping in mind some of you out there are driving around untuned and haven't hit the dyno like me whats your thoughts..

please bump this for looking..-one

I'm building a CRVTEC and I planning on rev it not over 8.5k but I'll run with the CTR Cams, in a couple of months when I get more money I plan to buy some BC4's I think 8.8k must be the limit.

I didn't know the block had much to do with how high you can rev- i though it was the head - i.e. valves, springs, retainers - thats what i though - if you change to dual springs and titanium valves - you should be able to atleast rev to 10,000 - not saying that you're going to have power up that high, but still.....if you want power that high - you have to get some really nice cams....stage III

yes the the headwork is also part of reving that high but there is a particular reason for this thread because unlike all other b motors the b20 has thinner cylinder walls therefore making it wealer the higher you take it up. sure you can rev up high with a itr head or smoething but if you have a itr head on a b20 the you really have to balance the two and suppose if you have a stock block with a itr head the you really shouldnt be going over 8k....any more thoughts or more answers anyone.....how high can you rev up?

b20 stock walls can go to 9k fine with aftermarket rods and pistons, but don't do it all the time, as long as you don't boost or squeeze, the walls are fine.

Its tuning more than anything that cracks cylinder sleeves and inproper installation and just overall carelessness. With a really good tune you should be fine to rev to 9000rpm occasionally. Supposedly my engine will be fine to 9000rpm doubt I'll take it that high but supposedly it'll be fine that high and it was professionally built by the guy who builds Joe Demerys engines and he's got tons of experiece so everything is right. Heres my mods list though, you think this'll be safe to 9000rpm with a really good tune Hondata S200?

my fuel cut is set to 8500rpm (software), but i shift at 8K.

On the dyno, i was taking it up to 8800rpm for about 21 runs, so i know it makes power up there, but i'm keeping it safe and shifting at 8K.

you could but i wouldnt do it if you have a stock block with just arp rod bolts thats just insuring you till about 8k anything more is in the i dont know zone.. so keep it at 8 cause those rods are skinny for the pistons... just my .02
