Default Just wondering...............

What is so hard about doing motor swaps? My brother and I have done multiple swaps in ef's, two eg's, and two ek's and have never had a single problem on our end. any time someone couldn't do a swap correctly, they would come to us and it would be fixed in no time. I'm not trying to brag or sound like we're better than these people, but I don't see what's so hard about it. You hook up the wires, vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, and fuel lines, all in the correct location, make sure there is oil, gas, and coolant, and tighten the bolts, then your done. I read all the time on h-t "HELP WITH B16 SWAP" or "B18A IN CRX WON'T START, HELP". what is so hard? it's pretty much just a bigger d series motor. the only thing different would be adding vtec for a b16 or b18c and there are very detailed diagrams on how to do that.

i don't know, maybe we have just been fortunate and just haven't run into any major problems like everyone else has, but i just don't see what's that hard about it. anyone else ever wonder this or anyone else ever had these problems and care to comment on what went wrong? have we just been lucky so far or are people just not being thorough with their work? any and all comments welcome.

I think that lots of people aren't that mechanically inclined. But practice does help a lot, the more swaps you do the easier and easier they seem because you've seen it all before and know the order in which to do things to make it easier on yourself.

Well remember, this site is dedicated to helping people solve problems involved in Hondas/Acuras. And not everyone can work a wrench as stated by 96-EJ6 B18C. Maybe you should start using all that knowledge you pocess to help more members with their problems rather than make threads implying they're idiots because you and your brother have yet to run into a problem with your swaps . Hope that didn't sound dick-headed-ish? I just don't know where the 'tech' is in this post - Darrell

yeah.......sorry about this not being a tech post......and no it didn't seem "dick-headed-ish" lol. but i do try to help in any way possible, i just don't see what's that hard about it. but i guess you guys are right. maybe some people just aren't mechanically inclined. but i still give them props on trying to do their own work. i respect that more than people who just pay everyone else to do stuff for them.
