Temperature guage problem ??
ok.. I have a 1990 civic Si. The engine temp guage seems to not function properly.
After driving for 5 minutes, the needle barely moves up, seems like its not at operating temperature... I also notice that the RPM's stay at 1100- 1200 RPM's.
The heater seems to work. It seems like something is causing the engine temp guage to not work properly..... feels like the engine never reaches operating temperature, even after driving for 10 minutes....
what can it be ?
- temperature sending unit ?
- Thermostat ?
- temp . guage sensor ?
- Air in the coolant system ?
oh..can somebody post pics of where the thermostat is ? And the temp guage sensor ?

Hmm, mine does this also. Have you guys tried burping your coolant system? Make sure all the coolant related wires and plugs are fine. I've heard grounds can affect this but all mine seem fine. My temp gauge will stay at the very bottom then go up to normal for a few mins then just go back to sleep #__#. And my fan doesn't come on [ all fuses are fine ]. I'm stumped, anyone have any ideas? - Darrell
I've got the opposite problem...shortly after starting my car, my temp. gauge jumps all the way to the top. I haven't checked the Temp Guage Sensor/sending unit thing yet...I'm such a procrastinator! I think I posted this problem of mine weeks ago!

no prob bob, but the same thing u said about the temp gauge shooting to the top has happened to me also after the car didn't turn on for a day, trust me it's either the temperature gauge sensor or the switch that gets screwed in the motor by the intake manifold go to a honda dealer and ask for a blue print of the 1.5 engine it will show it.
