Default intermittent high temperature reading on B18C1

i have a 97 civic with a gsr swap. CTR guage cluster. this happened yesterday, the car was fully warmed up and reading normal temp... then all of sudden the temp guage went to 3/4 and stayed, then sharply fell back to 1/2... it did this a few times, and seemed as though i could almost control the temperature guage by the movement of the vehicle, ( sharp decelleration would cause it to go back to normal range).... coolant level is at full and the wiring and sensor physically looks good... anyone else with a similar experience, or maybe some insight?

Did you bleed the coolant?

the engine isnt overheating... this is an electrical fault somewhere... engine temp doesnt rise and drop this fast...

dosnt rise fast i agree.. but coolant temps can drop really fast as well. if your t-stat is sticking then finally pops open, the coolant will rush out towards radiator bringing in new cold fluid. not to mention your fan is running as well since your car started to overheat. so fan on, and open t-stat will drop those temps quickly

im leaning more towards thermostat like everyone else here. i believe your t-stat is sticking.

most likely its ur t-stat..it is either staying open or staying closed..i had the same problem where my car would be in normal operating temp. and when i start driving it would creep down as if the engine was cold..changed the t-stat and fixed
