D-series (88-00 1.6L SOHC) guys please look....(header)
OK. So we had been using the Bisimoto header while running Honda Challenge. The header is the best header we've ever had on the car. The top end power is amazing.
The problem comes in here, we are now running in ITA as well, so the power steering had to be put back into the car, now the header doesn't fit.
We contacted Bisi regarding this, & basically unless we have enough "interest" (ie more people willing to buy one as well) he won't re-design one that will clearance the ps as in the past "there has been no market for it."
So if you would be interested please please post here, and contact him as well to display interest. Obviously we wouldn't go through all this trouble if we didn't REALLY think that his header is the best thing period for the d-series.
His site: http://www.bisimoto.com (you can see the header there & use the contact us on his site)
Also check out: http://www.hadamotorsport.com/tech/review/dsemc/
our personal dyno results (on our relatively stock engine & our bone stock engine both showed similar/amazing gains) & the car (although loud) sounds amazing w/ this header....lap times (on track) also decreased significantly after using this header.
("street version" is one referring to not "race version" as "race version" uses a megaphone sytle exit thats really only applicable for drag racers & would require extensive modification for using w/ exhaust piping/muffler/etc.)
this header is applicable for any D-series 88-00 1.6L SOHC
(retails for appx $589, see http://www.exospeed.com for more pics/pricing)
thanks!

Required for ITA- I don't want to be protested or disqualified.
(believe me I'd rather NOT have it.)

It can be relocated actually, but we haven't been able to figure out anywhere to relocate it to (it does have to function) that won't cause other clearance issues (w/ either the ground, or other parts in bay).

I'm 99.99% certian that no it won't clear it- I only don't know for certain as my a/c system was removed six years ago, but as it was right there w/ the ps, I doubt it. If it cleared the ps it would clear the a/c.
That is one of the reasons I've posted about this header outside of the racing forums as well, if Bisi makes one that works for us ITA guys, it should also work for street applications as well (where the present one will not work for many street cars without removing stuff you probably don't want to remove on a street car like ps & ac)
I don't think the shaft idea will work (although I'm not 100% certian what you mean) b/c of ground clearance if low (near tranny) & in front of the engine the Bisi header takes up some space, the remainder of space is pretty much taken up by a larger radiator (stock too small for racing purposes...especially in summer).

Sounds like you guys (lady?) are in a pickel. I highly doubt you'll get any interest from the EF crowd b/c we don't have p/s (99% of us don't, select few do). You have no interest in any other 4-1 headers with similar gains? I know the Bisi is
, but couldn't you skimp out on maybe a 1 or 2 hp for an alternate header and yet remain ITA legal? I don't think ground clearance would be an issue on a track only car.
Good luck!

Maybe try a smsp header mine clears the a/c compressor and has plenty of ground clearence. Mine is the new offset collector model. Im sure Dave will work with you on tube sizes and lenths to get you good power.

If we have to go w/ another header (obviously we will) we just really really want another Bisi- for us the hp gains were a greater variation that 1 or 2 compared to other headers. (Maybe its just that case for our specific engine it being that dramatic.)
We do actually have groung clearance issues w/ other 4-1 headers as well (that has a lot to do with why we've tried so many
) even though its a track only car.
The car is lowered yes, the suspension set-up is tight/hard yes, but we still flatten & therefore ruin other 4-1 headers.
We just thought we'd try posting in another forum (that the header is "applicable for") to see if there was any interest...

You could only get the car (the EX Coupe) with PS (there was no manual...a manual rack would have to come from a DX) which would make it illegal.
Yes it would be easier & cheaper...but the rulebook doesn't allow it.
