Default friends minime runs like ****

ok we just got this running and it aint too hot. he ligned the timing marks on the cam gear level with the head and lined up the timing mark on the crank pully with the timing cover marks. when he drove it, it had no power under acceleration, and the intake was noticably louder than normal, running rich, valve train noise, and a bad idle.

d15b2
y8 head
y8 cam gear
y8 timing belt

should we put the d15b2 cam gear on the y8 head?

how did the mpfi wiring go?

use a timing light. if you have no codes, its gotta be a timing problem.

spark plug firing order would be a good thing to check as well.

Shouldn't the mark on the cam gear ( 8 o'clock position ) be match to the pointer.
Set to the one on the right in the pic.

The MPFI wiring went fine, he did it before with the stock head and it was fine. he isnt throwing any codes either. he says the firing order is right also. i seem to think its still in the valve timing.

i thinks its either timing or a vacuum leak... or I/M gasket leak... is the idle high?

you didn't adjust the valves?

I suggest an adjustable cam gear as well.

I'm willing to bet the timing belt is off a tooth.

you would know if the timing belt is off a tooth if you took a 17mm wrench put it on the crankpully and turned untill you saw the TDC mark line up to the sights on the timing belt cover. Than check if your marks line up on the cam gear. Are you guys using a timing light on these??

should we put the d15b2 cam gear on the y8 head? --- I think this would be a bad idea. I believe the y8 cam gear is off 1/2 tooth from all other Dseries.

This is where the ajustable cam gear comes into play. ^^^

unless you had an adjustable cam gear you will be off by half a tooth in either direction. d15 deck height is different than the d16's. get a timing light to see where you are at.
