Hi
has anyone tried to put on the new 3-spoke 02 EP SiR steering wheel (with air bag) on 2000 EK SiR?
Does it need any modification and will the air bag and cruise control work as normal?

i tried it and the airbag connectors are different. so it wont be plug and play.

If you like the look, you can get a JDM RSX steering wheel and the S2k steering wheel also work in EK's.

I have the JDM rsx R on my EM1

USDM RSX wheel will NOT work, it has different airbag connectors.

The JDM RSX wheel will work as it has the SAME connectors.

 

And you didnt do any research at all to see if you could just purchase the correct connectors from honda or use your old airbag connectors and just replug the wires into the correct spots?

Seems doable to me. Then again I've never taken my steering wheel off.

Of course i did research. Honda doesnt sell just the airbag plugs as you arent supposed to be messing around with the airbag.

also the main problem is the USDM EP steering wheel is a dual stage airbag. The EK and the JDM rsx wheel are single stage.

That is another reason why i wouldnt mess with it.

Check ebay they run for appx $400US

 

by the way are those cruise control buttons (accel, decel and cancel) work as normal ?

 

they function as stock, but a little mod is neccessary.
