Default chipped/ vafc.

i have an apexi vafc i am wanting to put on my obd0 b16 with a pr3 ecu. my mods are as follows :
skunk 2 IM
bbk 70mm TB
Cold air intake
DC 4 to 1 into thermal 2 and 1/2 exhaust
str power fuel rail
holley fuel pressure regulator
msd blaster 2 coil
msd SCI-L ( with rev limit pill)

i dont plan on turbo or anything and i just want to make it run better.
will just putting on the vafc be enough to make a big difference? or should i get the ecu chipped also. i might do some mild head work down the line also ie. cams.
thanks for any help.

Two questions
1) Why do you have such a big throttle body on an internally stock motor? It may be good for quantity but you are killing flow velocity.
2) Did you match the Skunk2 to the 70mm throttle body?

yes it is matched to the manifold. and i didn't buy it. it came with the motor. and i plan on getting the skunk 2 stage 1 cams soon. and i already have the vafc. i traded a p28 for it.

The P28 is what you needed, not some halfassed VAFC. With the P28 you can tune it in real time on a dyno, disable the rev limit and use the MSD box you have, and do just so much more than the VAFC.

You can use the PR3 you have, but there aren't as many options as far as tuning goes, the OBD1 stuff is much more developed. The VAFC is better than nothing, but tuning the fuel and ignition maps is infinitely better. Launch control is nice too...

On a side note, why an STR fuel rail with stock injectors?

i don't think they are stock injectors. wen i got it it was spitting fuel out the exhaust bad. i turned the fuel pressure down and it is still rick but not so much as to damage anything i don think. i got this motor for the dirt . with lots of expensive **** on it. i just need to finish the job the guy started ie. cams and a few other little items. the reason i posted was for options with chipping my pr3 and using my vafc. im not spending the money to convert whole motor to obd1. its an obd0 motor in an obd0 car. ill keep it that way it is. i can get this pr3 chipped to take out rev limit, correct? cuz thats all i think i need and i can do the rest with the vafc.

Yeah, moving the rev limit to like 12000 rpm is no problem. Using the VAFC is ok, but it's sort of a hack, you can't tune the fuel and ignition maps separate, but it will work for most stuff. If you're interested in chipping the PR3, shoot me another PM and we can discuss it further.
