Red dust inside distributer cap...What is this?...NORMAL?
There is a red, almost rustish looking dust lining the distributor cap and some parts inside of the distributor. Ive heard that this is normal and some say its the dizzy going bad. Any input? Also this dizzy is a remanufactured one and is abot less than 5,000 miles old. Thanks guys.
when my dizzy bearing took a crap on me there was all sorts of redish dust inside the cap....is the bearing squealing at all? The last thing you want to happen is have the bearing sieze on you while driving.
I would say that its a prelude of things to come then. I only noticed the red dust once my bearing was starting to go.
you say that this dizzy only has 5K on it? Why don't you take it back to where you bought it from? Most dizzy's come with a 1 year warranty.

wtf are you crazy?!?!?!
Honda dizzy's are rediculously expensive.
Check this out....its a how-to on replacing the bearing. I did this on mine, but wrecked the oil seal during disassembly and can't buy a new one b/c its a half size. The bearing can be had at any bearing supplier for about $25 (well here in canada at least). Its so expensive because honda made it a half size. Its almost as if they made it like this so that you couldn't just rebuild it and so you have to buy a new one from them....anyways moral of the story, BE VERY CAREFUL when removing the oil seal. Its not a very hard thing to do...trust me.
