I have a Greddy 18G on a b16. At about 7200rpms boost drops to stock wastegate setting. why???
I have a b16a with a greddy 18g on it. I have a turbosmart manual boost controller hooked up, using uberdata to tune it. The boost spikes to 9lbs. then drops down to a steady 7.5-8 until around 72-7300rpms and it drops down to 5-6psi until redline. Why does it do this? can someone help me figure out why.
because you hoooked up the ******* wastegate wrong. Pull it out of your intake manifold and put it in the compressor housing, or close by. The farther away it is from the coimpressor, the SLOWER (think about how the wastegate works killer) the wastegate will respond.
yeah, but i dont care about the spike, i want it to hold boost to redline. how would that make a difference where the vacuum source is?
IDK where you have the vac source for your BC. Its a good idea to use vac. off the IM so your boost will be at 9 psi once it gets to the IM. This helps eliminate pressure loss through your IC and piping.
From personal experience with the 18g turbo, the internal gate really sucks especially at higher boost levels.
i dont think 8psi is asking too much from the turbo. I have the vac source t'd into the line going to the bov. i dont know why i'm having this problem but if someone does know i'd appreciate some help. thanks again.vernon

anyone think that if i shortened the wastegate arm that it would help hold boost longer without dropping off?
