just curious... How come JR superchargers don't need oil like turbos?
They have their own self contained oiling system. Only needs changed about every 100,000 miles.
Because they don't spin at 150,000 RPM's like turbos do
Some superchargers do use an oil feed though.

That the kind of reply I'd expect from the miriad of 15-16 year olds that frequent this site. I guess everyone really does mature at a different rate.

hmm... any ideas where the drain, refil and check bolts are on the M62? I've been giving some thought into changing the oil in the blower when i take it off to inspect it (vibration at 5000 rpm, figure its a loose bolt somwhere).

it just happened that I know a lot about superchargers, since I was about to put one in my car ... they are good for only limited powers, that's all ... now do you want me to write all disadvantages of them, or you are gonna figure those out by search ?

How about you offer some insight about why you think JR blowers are "pieces of ****" instead? You can't just say something like that without backing it up with some sort of support.

as I said before, those are good only for small powers ...
but I'll give you a clue to think about: high intake temperature ... now what ? .. or check something simple like belt comming off easily ...

You can change the oil only when removing the blower. There is a black hex head bolt on the pulley side with a blue paint make on it .To drain it , remove the bolt and point the pulley side over a bucket, it will stink like hell no matter the miles.
To refill, place the supercharger on a bench in the same postion as sits in the car, Fill through the same hole you drained untill the fluid starts to come out the same hole, Like refilling the Honda tranny.
I do recomend changing the oil every 25-30 K miles . You can get the oil from GM , they sell it for the Buick 3800 supercharged motor. DO NOT use any onther oil, It will wear the bearing very quick.
Oh yea, Go Turbo ! They should call this Retard-Tech.

thanks for the help john (john right?), i'll probably give it a shot when the blower's out so i can repair a stripped thread in the intake runners... lol
time to bust out the helicoils!
Any good tips on getting to the bolts on the back of the blower on a prelude application? I put on a hell of a lotta loctite back there and would imagine it to take a fair amount of wrenching to get those bolts out
