I have recently noticed that if I am really gettin on my car and look in my rearview, I kept seeing this crap coming up from the road. The first time, I thought it was just road debris that I kicked up and thought nothing of it. Then I noticed it again and thought one of my axle boots had shredded to pieces, but when I checked they were fine. So, I go to my buddy's house and he sees this stuff fly out of the exhaust and we go over and pick it up. It looks like little packs of fibers covered in exhaust. So is this coming from my resonator or my muffler? I have a cat-back Greddy Evo exhaust that is about 4-5 years old.
yea its just your muffle packing burning out, my buddy has an evo on his Ex and the first time he got on it packing was flying, as the packing burns out and flys out youll hear it get louder

I've seen this happen a few times with that system. I'd give Greddy a call, I know they've replaced a few on occasion.

i think i got good use out of it, just don't feel like replacing the muffler if it turns out to be the resonator.
More than likely it is your muffler, but it could be both. I am unsure how there resonators are built.
The packing material coming out the back is typical of fiberglass mufflers...
its called Blowout.
This is one of the reasons why we DO NOT use fiberglasss for packing...
