Default Quieting down a catless exhaust

unforntunately I need to drive my racecar on the street to and from events

the local authorities frown upon my 1.6 litre of fury exhausting through a straight pipe no cat and hollow muffler....

I am currentlty putting out close to 90db's at 50' and I'm looking for a bolt-on / off solution for street / track

what say you.

How many db's do you need to remove?

Pansy.

My car, with cat, muffler and 2 resonators hits 90dB ... with the race exhaust, it's over 100dB without doubt.

You can either add inline resonators or you can add an intact muffler or a cat.

Personal experience-go to Meineke and have a 'cherry bomb' muffler that is longer than what you have now fab'd into or in place of your current setup. Technically it is illegal for a steet driven vehicle-one with plates-to not have a working cat. I got around both the noise and that issue by putting a CATCO before a twin muffler setup under the tunnel. Another thing-where the exhausts exits is also important to stay way under your local noise rules. (Now that my car is trailered I can remove the added cat, which means that I need to find a bigger/longer muffler. BUT I probably won't as the cat is a resonator and helps with pollution.)

Seems too obvious, but what about a high flow cat and a Mazdaspeed canister???

Can an N1 w/ a removable silencer fit a Miata somehow??? That would be ideal.

regardless, I'll PM you the e-mail of a bud of mine so you can get some advice.

I haven't tried it myself, but I have it on good authority that some steel wool stuffed in the tailpipe will do wonders for noise reduction. YMMV.

First...it's a Miata of course I'm a pansy

Second: my Auto-X Sactioning body limits db's to 90 (I just make it)

Third: I'm a 32 yr. old man that lives in a small New England town that is not fond of little red cars with stickers buzzing thrue town at 90 db's

the temp solution? my buddy is giving me a Supertrapp that I will have fabricated to bolt on to the tip of the muffler and bolt off at the track.

thanks for all the advice
