Prelude Type S front upper strut bar
Hi, I did a search and I couldn't find anything regarding this bar. I have the oppurtunity to purchase it for 80 dollars and I was wondering if I could get any input on it. Specifically if I should save up and buy a spoon, what kind of handling differences, if any, I might experience and whether or not the price could be considred fair. Thanks for any information you can provide.
There's a Prelude Type S Front Upper Strut Bar? What does it look like do you have a picture? If the Type S Strut Bar looks like the ITR's then I say keep it. It gives you the JDM look. I wouldn't think that there is any difference.
yeah, I thought it was kind of odd too. I've never heard of it before either. I've been trying to find at least an inkling of information and I've been coming up blank. I hope the guy selling it is for real.

The Prelude Type S did not have an upper front strut tower bar AKAIK...
Also, the Spoon bar is known to come into contact with the hood due to its tall design. I have seen Preludes where the Spoon bar just scratched the underhood paint a little bit, I have seen Preludes where the Spoon bar actually dented the hood upwards, and I have also seen Preludes with Spoon bars where there was no contact with the hood at all...
I am of the opinion that basically any strut tower bar will do. And I think that the brand or design or the bar makes no noticable difference in steering response or handling over another bar...
I have a Tanabe front strut tower bar. I chose the Tanabe Sustec strut Bar because I thought it looked nice...

The diameter of the bar, the material from which it's made, and the weight of the bar will all have an affect on your car's performance. You would definately notice a difference between a Mugen and DC sports bar. Why are you wanting to get a strut tower bar? For performance, looks, or both?
I'm from Socal. I recently got my prelude and a fellow at school offered to sell me his type s strut bar. I guess something fishy is going on since I have previously never heard of it. I hearl a lot of people talking about type S cams, but never about strut bars. I'll ask him about it next time I see him. I'm interested purely in improving my handling. I don't care what it looks like. I was interested in the spoon bars because they seemed exceptionally thick and of durable construction. The price however is beyond my budget at this time. A type S strut bar seemed ideal to me since it's oem, designed and engineered by honda specifically for preludes.

Here's what you do. Ask him if the bar is made by Honda. If he says yes, then look for a part # on it or a manufacturer's logo. If you can't find any of these things on it, then he's lying or misinformed.
