Default B18C1 rebuild help needed - thanks.

Hi guys,

Well this is my first post and I am in the process of buying a B18C1 for my 93 Civic.

1. We want to rebore it .20 over but will it need sleeves if I do .20 or is it still safe?

I am also changing the pistons, rods, bearing, rings with hi-perf. ones so that it can handle boost. Now I was told that I need low compression for a turbo or supercharger.

2. What compression ratio is good for turbo or supercharging on this motor?

3. What would be the best headgasket to use?

Thanks Guys - I heard honda-tech is the best. This is my first post hehe.

i dont think i would bore it that much then your bore/stroke ration will be way off. and yes you would want lower compression pistons in high boost applications. 9-1 to 9.5-1 would be good. and id use arp head studs and a cometic head gasket. but personaly id just keep stock bore and stock internals and use the head studs and a thicker head gasket to drop the compression a tad. then turbo on lower boost. unless you got alot of money then build the **** out of it.

Oh crap I am sorry (newbie error!), I mean't .020 (81.5mm) over. That is pretty safe isn't it? I mean I will it be safe without sleeves? I am gonna use a blockguard though. I heard the standard Honda headgasket is good enough - or does anyone know of a better one?

Now I also read on here of Wiseco pistons hitting the oil squirters in the block. I am planning on using SRP Pistons on my C1 - will these do the same also? Just thought I would ask here before I asked SRP .

I plan on later boosting the C1.

Thanks alot guys - I really like this board and Honda-tech.com.

Sleeving your block would be good. But fully building your block would be the best and safest way. You want low compression liek around 9:1-9:2. High compression is for N/A. I would look into getting a Cometic Headgasket, and some ARP head studs.

Don't bore it unless you have to and then only .25mm over. I agree with the compression suggestions. What you use and how you build it has to do with budget and HP goals/useage.
