Default People Running Thicker HeadGaskets: Chime In!!

What Motor were you running it on? Stock / Fully Built Etc.....

How thick of a head gasket were you using? Brand?

What Turbo Setup, Manifold Etc.... ?

How much power at the end did it make at what boost level? After tuning and getting it running cherry.

Thanks In Advance..

Nobody is answering your question because they are out in the garage installing their 5" DPs and exhausts.

why would you want a thicker headgasket? how much is your current compression ratio?

my compression ratio, is going to be about 9.5:1 or 9.8:1 depending on which head i go with. this will be a highly built motor, with sleeves and all the good stuff and will be boosting a ton. should i get a thicker head gasket to lower cr a little, or do you think with the right tune itll be fine?

no need to get a thicker HG in your case. just get a really good tune..

to lower compression so that i can run more boost.

current compression is like 10.2-10.4, with the HG i got, its gonna be around 9.1-9.2:1

that must be a pretty thick headgasket you got there to lower the compression that much.

i think i recall reading somewhere that the thicker the gasket is there is greater chance of it failing

how about pulling the head off and doing some combustion chamber re-shaping to help lower the compression a little?

personally i wouldn't have any problems running 10:1CR and boost just as long as the pistons are forged.......

inline pro that specailizes in thicker headgaskets have ones bigger than the ones i purchased. I got the .074 from cometic and inline pro sells a 2mm and 3mm version.

from what i herd BEFORE that there are people making well into the 400+whp on stock motors with just thicker HG's.

What im worried too is the headgasket blowing out also. but we will see once its on the dyno.
