Default STARTING PROBLEMS!

Alright, my friends got a 91 hatch as well, and he went to start it the other morning. Up until morning, it had no issues. The engine turns over (powerfully I might add) so I know there's juice in the battery and juice to a good starter. We pulled the spark plugs after turning the engine a few times. They looked dead, and were dry. Listening, the fuel pump is DEFINITLY kicking, so that was eliminated. mving to the topside, I pulled the wires and plugs out and set them on the topside of the motor and turned the engine a few times. No spark. Figured it might be bad wires/plus be all original at a little better than 200K. With new parts, we tried again. No success, still no spark, but the plugs were wet this time with gas. So today we replaced the dist. cap and the little rotor inside (both of which looked as though they'd seen better days). also I might add we know the rings are going (it smokes white under pressure) but I know it has compression because the engine bumps when being turned over. After the same test, the plugs still are not sparking, and are still wet. Any ideas or things to try? Engine is a stock D15B2

Most likely either coil or ignitor is bad.

Yeah the only thing left to check (for lack of spark) is the distributor. I've heard that auto parts stores can test your coil and ignitor. Do that before you go spending aimlessly.

I've also had the bearing in the distributor seize up......no spark. Good luck with court!

I think taken off. Again never done this myself, but I'm sure they can test a coil and I've heard they can test the ignitor too. Best to call and ask.

Just take the distributor off the motor and take it down to your local parts store. The NAPA store here where I am tests ignitors and coils.

Yeah, they can disassemble it if you don't want to. Even if it's a new one, the components can still be faulty.
