What do these motor mounts/ stabilizer mounts do?
I just put my B18C back into my hatch and this time I bought Hasport motor mounts with the 70A urethane. The motor is stiff as hell with these mounts and I wanted to know if these stabilizer mounts are necessary. What do they exactly do? I was thinking maybe they dampen engine vibration since the rubber is pretty soft. In some pictures people have them on and some don't.

TIA

TIA
They help keep torque in the motor by not allowing the motor to flex during pulling or shifting. You will notice you door and steering wheel will vibrate now so tighten up things. I also think that if you put these dampeners in, you should put all 3 or 4 in, not just the 2. I think the torque points are, well on a 96-00 civic, on the driver side top, passenger side tranny top, and the rear. good luck and you might notice a little difference.
Would it be likely to break one of the motor mounts if you remove them? I just thought with the stiffer Hasport mounts, maybe I wouldn't need these torque mounts. I'll probably keep them in just to avoid breaking one of the Hasport mounts.
Thanks

friends just put 500 wheel down in an eg with hasport mounts wthout the torque mounts. if i was to remove my ac, i would also remove them as i am getting hasport mounts when i do my new clutch.

My buddy isn't running those mounts and his tranny mount is broken, I've also seen a driver side mount completely snapped off due to not running the torque mounts, but these were both on stock mounts, one was using inserts though.
The 96-00 civic driver side top mount is pretty weak, if you take off the bottom one it'll put more stress on the top one which will definitely make it rip.
I know, I know, you have hasports... So the driverside top mount is now stiffer, but It's still a stressfull point so the weakest link will break, which is the mounting points where the mount holds on to on the chasis. I've seen this happen twice.

more cluttered, eh? hmm, never heard that before b/c of mounts. a new on for me.
as for Blazin Si, if you are going to be running the hasport race mounts, you'll be perfectly fine without the front mounts. my buddy just dropped a ls motor into his EF hatch using those hasport race mounts... damn thing doesnt move. as for me, i used stock mounts, didnt want to get vibrated to death, or have to keep tightening **** to stop the rattles and squeaks. so i opted for poly motor mount inserts for the front mounts and rear mounts, same as the hasport mounts by feel, but doesnt shake the car as much. good luck.

Im running stock mounts- if you drive like a normal person they arnt so needed . When you beat the **** out of your car i would recomend them just "in case" and as with stock mounts they do wear so at times need to be replaced
