Default Trick: Start car without using clutch pedal...

If you wanna start your crx or civic without pushing the clutch pedal, at the top of the clutch pedal assembly, there is a switch... just disconnect it , and voila.. you can start the car without the clutch ! It's kinda hard to get to though....

I've never driven a car where you have to depress the clutch to start it..

Is it an american thing?

yes, but not recommended if you're not the only one driving or moving the car. This is also for folks with remote start.

88 Civics and CRX's did not have that switch Just be damn sure that the car is in neutral

This is very useful when you are working on the car and don't want to get in. Some of my friends were surprised .

You can also do it on 2g dsm's

Or bypass it with a hidden switch.

any tranny can do it. all you got to do is match RPMS. 4k rpms usually next gear will be around 2k rpms(depending on gear ratio). when you are around 2k shift from neutral into next gear. if you get the timing right it'll slide right in. works for downshifting too(use reverse instruction, just rev up to match rpms)

Is this true?? ^^^

If it is tho, it's still not the best for the tranny

Shifting without the clutch is fine. Truck drivers do it all the time because they have so many gears and ****. My buddie has his cdl and was taught and drives with out using the clutch except for first gear. As long as the rpms are right it will just fall right into gear.

yeah my brother's dad is a truck driver and he taught me to do this, he also says it is not bad for the tranny just match the rpm's, just don't go trying to jam it in gear, because that is bad for the tranny. I do it sometimes when I am bored, what is really hard is downshifting.
