Not sure if this will apply to you, but I drove my turbo Nissan to and from my track with no exhaust. I don’t see how running an open down pipe could cause any sort of problems. I’ve known people who have daily driven their turbo cars for weeks without exhausts. This was only because they were too lazy to get their exhausts welded up.

on are drag boat cranking out over 1800hp from a custom 500ci block we would run basicly just 4 inch pipes off each cylinder when we ran it....when we ran it on public lakes we ran a baffled exhaust setup....never had a valve problem...just many shattered pistons
of course we never managed to stay on any public lakes for more then about 15-20minutes before the sherrif would show up and tell us to leave

I have run open downpipe for over a year with a exhaust for about 2 months. Not one problem. The old saying is running open header can suck up cold air and bend a valve but that is mostly bs and with a large hot turbo in the middle it's a big old lie. You'll be fine.

I daily drive my car w/ an Open 3.5" down pipe. My old hatch was also driven for over 5 months open DP daily. Only problem I have experienced is the extra attention from the noise(which really isn't that loud). He'll be fine.

hahahaha hell yeah. My friends used to not want to ride in my car because of that, and when I'd show up at their places, they're all, "dude, you smell like ****/exhaust"

Still fun though, when you're in gear decelerating at a red light, the car sounds like a helicopter I loved those days.

I ran a downpipe only on my car forever, only reason I put an exhaust on it is becuase I was driving it from here to LA, and didn't want the smog jockeys riding my *** about stuff.

The only way you'll burn up valves is if you run no manifold at all-- and you risk catching the whole car on fire that way anyway. Blue flames shoot out of the head when you don't put an exhaust manifold on at all. But just downpipe is fine.

This should be in the tech forum.

Thats more of a problem on all mota cars. The cold air can go right up to the hot valve and crack them. We have turbos in the way
